I think it’s fair to say that we all expected the trip to Palace to be a tough one. Pardew has done a fantastic job in making Crystal Palace a well-established Premier League side. I think what is the most disheartening about the defeat was to concede so late on after getting ourselves back in the game. Nevertheless, here are three takeaways from the game.
Jordan Amavi – though it was Jordan’s error that resulted in Palace getting the winner, I still feel he is the player that will stand out for us this season. As Tim said he is young and will make mistakes. In my opinion is that it is better that he makes these mistakes now so the guy can learn from them and moves on as quickly as possible. He will be a big player for the club this season!
Adama Traore – wow, just wow. We are in for a treat if Adama’s cameo was anything to go by. He came on during the 2nd half and immediately gave Villa energy and purpose. He also showed astonishing skill and pace to set up Villa equaliser. I can’t wait to see what else this kid can do
Gabriel Agbonlahor – for me Gabby has not performed well enough for the club this season to warrant him keeping his place. With both Grealish and Traore being stand out performers against Palace, both should be starting ahead of him. There are also a number of fringe players that deserve a chance too. I know Gabby is Villa through and through but sometimes that just does not cut it, especially when you are not getting the performances.
With Notts County coming up in the League cup this week. I really feel that we should be seeing how some of the new guys gel. Exciting times ahead that is for sure
