No sooner has the Championship season finished, that the preparations for the new PREMIER LEAGUE season begins.

At the time of writing many of our Play off winning squad, have been returned to their parent clubs as well as a whole host of players being released due to their contract expiring. Where does this leave Villa in terms of being ready for the new season? In short and in my opinion, the answer Is with a hell of a lot of work to do!

The club need to try and drive a good balance of bringing in new players with utilising our existing crop, whilst at the same time not being held to ransom in the transfer market.

The not so good news is that a lot of recruitment is needed, perhaps 7 or 8 as a minimum. This new squad will need time to gel so it’s important that the squad get a decent preseason together and hopefully the transfers are completed sooner rather than later. The good news is that the club have taken no prisoners in releasing players. This would indicate a non-nonsense approach and hopefully has a clear mind set of who they want to being in.

Ins: Jota (Birmingham City) El Ghazi (Lille)

Outs: Abraham (Chelsea), Mings (Bournemouth), Tuanzebe (Manchester United), Hause (Wolves)

Hutton, Elphick, Richard, Whelan, Jedinak, De Laet, Bunn, Adomah, Gardner (Deal for Jota)

Without stating the obvious, there are certainly a few players listed taht we are glad to be rid of but also a couple which we may be disappointed to see go. It’s great the El Ghazi has signed permanently on a 4 year deal and it is also expected that Hause and Mings will also sign permanent deals with the club, however currently and as it stands, that’s 13 players out and only 2 in. Whilst I will make no further comment on exact transfers and numbers, there is no doubt going to be a lot of transfer activity in the coming weeks/months.

Lets build a squad around the likes of Grealish, Mcginn and El Ghazi, players we loves and player that love the club!
